Today we analyze a word of mouth against the sky, called the best horror movie of the year “Hereditary”.
This movie is relatively obscure, involving some religious theories, the following small all-around deathless, for you to analyze the plot of the film, we follow the characters, respectively comb. (purely technical post, it is recommended to collect, first watch the film and then read).
The demon Baimun is in charge of science, art and secret magic of the demon, like to control everything. He is one of the eight kings of hell, the main position of the northwest.
The movie says Baymont is male, so greedy for male bodies, but has a female face, and three women’s heads hanging on his mount.
Once Baymont is successfully summoned, he will confuse the most weak-willed host, causing him to develop mental problems and thus split personality. Only when the ritual is completed will Baymont fully enter the host’s body, and only a new ritual can unlock Baymont’s dominance over the host.
So, there are several things to note here about Baymon as follows.
- Baymont doesn’t only possess males, females can too, it’s just that he prefers the male body.
- Baymont’s full body is in two steps, first summoned, then possessed. Then Baymon can possess a female until a suitable male body is available.
- For the ritual of full possession, there must be a male body, and three female heads.
- Baymont can mentally control others, as well as objects, such as in the movie, this blue paint bottle was made to fall by Baymont out of thin air, in order to spill paint on the contact card of the cult member Fat Lady, to get Annie’s attention.
Peter’s grandmother, Annie’s mother – Ellen Lee.
She was a member of a cult that used her entire family to provide possession vessels and ritual conditions for Baymont by marrying him herself, in exchange for knowledge, wealth, charisma and the will to submit to others for herself and her followers. In the movie, grandmother Ellen, daughter Anne and granddaughter Charlie, all have high attainment in the arts, which is the ability to enter into a reincarnation contract with Baymont in exchange.
After that, whether the body is not qualified, or the ritual conditions are not enough, or the host’s own will to choose, in short, it is Peter’s grandfather died on hunger strike, and Peter’s uncle (mother Annie’s brother) hanged himself.
When Ellen learns that her daughter Annie is pregnant with a boy, she forces her to give birth to it in order to serve as Baymont’s body. After that, she summoned Baymont, so that Baymont first possessed his granddaughter Charlie, who was not yet born, and then united with his son-in-law Steve (may be a partner, may also be forced, the following about son-in-law Steve), the surface does not contact with Annie, so that Annie reassured, and then successfully gave birth to his granddaughter Charlie, that is, gave birth to the demon Baymont, Charlie is Baymont’s first female body.
Charlie’s strange looks, and age-inappropriate speech and mannerisms can be corroborated, and the grandmother to take Charlie away on the grounds of not touching Peter, and to personally breastfeed Charlie, are also evidence of the offering of Charlie as Baymont.
Peter’s mother – Anne
She grew up seeing the family tragedy, should have a deep understanding of it all, whether it was her own stimulation or the influence of the will of Baymont, Anne herself has a split personality, her mental condition is sometimes good and sometimes bad.
She grew up knowing that she was pregnant with a boy, in order not to let the tragedy repeat itself, did not want to give birth, but yielded to the will of his mother Alan, or Alan took what the secret method, in short, is no way to abort, had no choice but to give birth to a son Peter.
After listening to her husband Steve’s guidelines forbidding contact with her mother Alan, she gave birth to her daughter Charlie, and then in order to protect Peter, she gave Charlie to her mother Alan, she did not know that Charlie is the devil Baymont.
As Peter and Charlie grew up, Ellen saw that the time was ripe to let Baymont turn Peter, so she moved into Annie’s house on the grounds that she was sick and needed care.
And Annie gradually learned the truth, in order to stop all this, Annie in their own mental clarity, want to set fire to their children and themselves, but in the moment the match was lit, was Byamon influence the will, did not succeed. After that, her mental condition became worse and worse, and the incident of her attempted fire was crowned by her husband Steve with the false impression of sleepwalking.
Why?
Because sleepwalkers, when awake, are not aware of what they have done, and from common sense, her family would not tell her afterwards that you were going to set fire to their children. But Annie was able to clearly tell the cult member Fat Ma’am about the process, which means that Annie’s subconscious mind still remembered the incident, but because of her own mental problems, she also agreed with the statement that she was sleepwalking.
After that, Annie was sometimes awake and sometimes under Baymont’s mind control. When she was awake, she tried to stop it by any means possible, such as burning Charlie’s picture book. When she was under Baymont’s influence, she was involved in the tragedy of Charlie’s body in two places, because she was the one who forced Charlie to attend Peter’s party.
Then there was her ranting at Peter at the dinner table after Charlie’s death. That tone is not the helpless scolding of a mother to her child, but more like a stranger bursting with rage at the other person for breaking something of great use to her. Also, note the trail of adult footprints on the path Charlie took, and combine that with the fact that Annie immediately found Charlie and dragged her home by force, and it can be inferred that Annie at least hid Alan’s body in the attic. She does not remember it herself because it is the influence of Baymont’s spirit. In the end, she wanted to die with Baymont, but failed to do so, and then she herself was possessed by Baymont and cut off her head, providing the last head condition for the ritual of Baymont’s possession of Peter.
Peter’s dad, Annie’s husband – Steve
First of all, Steve is more or less aware of all this, maybe not as deep as Anne knows, but he certainly knows something about his mother-in-law, knows that there is something that affects the mental will of people, and that this thing is not to be messed with.
Secondly, he himself is a doctor in psychiatry (note the email he sent to a psychiatric colleague named Bob), and in his opinion, Annie is a seriously ill psychopath. So, his own cowardice combined with his unprincipled tolerance of Annie led him to let everything happen, even though he felt something was wrong, but was afraid to take action.
Finally, trying to call the police to take action but it was too late, he was burned outside by a fire by Baymont.
Here are a few points to prove it.
- With Annie, he was always tolerant and forbearing, and it was to the point where it was unbearable. For example, Annie’s rant against Peter at the dinner table, a father, but did not say a word?
- Peter’s grandmother, his mother-in-law’s grave was dug, this matter should have been known at the beginning when he received that phone call, then why has remained silent? Why did he remain silent? Was he only afraid that Annie would be worried?
- (In answer to the joint grandmother mentioned above, Ellen cheated Anne to give birth to Charlie) Anne said in the support group that her mother, Ellen, liked to control people until her husband Steve set the guidelines forbidding Ellen’s contact and gave birth to Charlie herself.
- he himself took medication and took two capsules at first and then added one more. This should be the drug that makes the spirit stable, and the medicine that Annie took at the home of the cult member Fat Lady should be the same, which is the reason why Annie’s spirit comes and goes, and proves that Steve understands that he must keep his spirit stable, or he may be controlled by something.
Charlie the Witch, Strange Beam and Tongue Popping and Cult Members
Charlie is the first body of the demon Baymont, she has not cried since birth, it can also be said that Charlie is Baymont, Baymont is Charlie, but because Charlie is a girl, so Baymont has always wanted to possess Peter, which is also the grandmother Alan carefully laid the game.
Why do you want to kill Charlie?
There is a book in Grandma Ellen’s relics, and it says that only with a new ritual will Baymon release the host.
Combined with what I said above, there are two steps to Baymont’s full body, first summoning and then possessing, so the only way to free Baymont from Charlie first is to possess Peter again, then Charlie bumps his head off on the pillar with Baymont’s symbol, which is called a new ritual. After this, Baymont takes on an invisible existence, in a state of summoned out but not possessed. The strange light beam and the popping tongue sound both represent Baymont, and the presence of these two labels is a sign of Baymont’s appearance. There are a total of seven appearances of the beam and seven tongue popping sounds in the movie, each of which means that the will of Baymon is exerting influence. Regarding the other cult members, they all follow Baymont’s will and are therefore also under Baymont’s mind control. There are several depictions in the movie.
1. the male with a creepy smile at Grandma Ellen’s funeral (many strangers at the funeral were cult members).
2. the long-haired woman waving to Charlie outside the school when she cuts off the bird’s head. 3.
3. an unidentified person standing outside Charlie’s window watching him while he was smoking marijuana at home at night.
4. Peter takes Charlie to a classmate’s party, where a man is chopping walnuts, which are put in the chocolate cake afterwards, and then cause Charlie to have an attack.
5. there is an invitation card stuffed into Annie’s house, and what is written on it is: Calling all skeptics to hold a public seance at 7 pm at the Spring Cemetery to receive a message from the other side. The cult member, Fat Auntie, said she also received the invitation card, but Annie did not know about it, indicating that it was her husband Steve who put the invitation card away, also indicating that the cult members are based in Spring Cemetery, also explaining why Steve heard a call from Spring Cemetery that his mother-in-law’s grave had been dug (note that he used a profane word), and did not dare to speak out.
6. the final ritual, Peter’s house is filled with cult members inside and out. Baymont’s possession ceremony must have Baymont’s followers present.
7. the most exposed fat lady, she lured Annie, the movie Annie first came to her house, said Charlie’s corpse even the nail is missing, but after taking the medicine to drink a mouthful of water on the fat lady’s table, and then mouth spit out a green moldy things, which is Charlie’s pinky nail.
Three words painted on the wall and the last rites
In the film, in turn, there are three words painted on the wall appeared, respectively, SATONY, ZAZAS and Liftoach Pandemonium, I checked a variety of information, what “Solomon’s Secret Key”, “A Brief History of the Four Pillars of Supremacy”, “Seventy-two Demon Gods”, including some foreign language websites, have not found a clear explanation, but in general, these three words can be understood separately.
1. SATONY, is a religious ritual to summon the souls of the dead to rebirth.
2. ZAZAS, is a spell used to summon demons.
3. Liftoach Pandemonium, meaning to open the land of demons.
These three words represent the three stages of the film, which can be interpreted as a cue for the progress of the plot, a metaphysical and more symbolic film expression.
In the final ritual, the bodies of grandmother Ellen and mother Anne kneel under the idol, both of them without heads, and on the idol is the head of daughter Charlie, which sets the condition of three female heads needed for the Baymont possession ritual.
Peter is the male body that Baymon is to fully possess.
Finally, the film in the pace and atmosphere of the control
The first hour or so of the movie is all padding, the next half hour is the essence, and the whole film almost does not rely on sound effects to create the atmosphere of terror.
From the miniature model to advance the camera to the real scene, and then from the real scene to pull away from the miniature model, everything seems to be under surveillance and control.
This “Hereditary” is a pure thriller movie, there is nothing deep thematic ideas, you should not think deeper, read some of the reviews of friends, some even to the family ethics, said with the literary film, it is recommended that we have this effort or bothered to understand the plot to see it.
Overall, this movie is not as amazing as the legend, but it is really a better horror movie.
